Between science fiction and documentary, director Neill Blomkamp new how to vitalize District 9 by piecing together current events and extraterrestrial phenomena as an expansion to his short film Alive in Joburg. Plus, once I learned Peter Jackson’s involved in the production line, I knew there had to be something unique about this movie that would capture the audience’s attention.

I grew up in a generation when Hasbro started conjuring up new trends in toy technology. One of the first and most popular was the Transformers. The action figures and characters were more simplified and clearly defined as long as they remained in the animated world, whether by film segments or CGI (computer generated imagery). Bare with me now, as CGI is also included on the big screen interacting these images with real people for years. Now we have these multi-toned machines posing as real life action figures.

I must hand it to director/producer Steven Spielberg. I always commend him on a job well done. He couldn’t have hand-picked a better candidate than Harrison Ford for the role of Indiana Jones.

The man in the metal suit. More than just an action movie featuring the coming of a new breed of super-hero. It featured Robert Downey Jr., a superb choice to play Tony Stark.
